I don’t know if I can say whether it could be considered
wise to admit failure or not. I sincerely expect that no one can honestly say
they have never failed, but generally we are never encouraged to admit to these
short-falls. I have quite evidently failed at my attempt to making this a
normal part of my weeks. So much so that the entire summer semester has come
and gone without a single post in the interim, nor the announcement of my
decision to endure a fourth semester of graduate school.
I am not proud of this fact; however, and it does not really
require admitting as it is rather evident. Nonetheless, I felt compelled to
begin with this attempted reboot by stating this fact. I will once again endeavor
to make this a habitual part of my week. There will be fewer classes than last
year; however, that does not mean less work. I will be doing a multitude of
other tasks: both related and unrelated to school.
I have been back in Israel about two weeks at this point,
after having returned to the United States for a few weeks of R&R. It
worked, i believe. I feel very confident and optimistic about the upcoming
semester, if not a little nervous. As I sit here, at school, I am looking forward
to my camping trip later this week with great anticipation. The Hula Bird
Festival is ongoing at the moment, and there is a large migration underway
which I hope to see and witness thousands upon thousands of birds reportedly stopping
by the hula valley on their way from Europe to Africa and Asia. Aside from
this, I have nothing I feel really is worth writing. I hope to have many
pictures for you next time.
I just want to end with a large thank you, and a request. Even
though I have been away without notification for some time, I see many people
have still been checking back. It means so much to see this. Thank you one and
all. I hope I do not let you down. And a request, I have not always been the
best on staying up to date with all of you. I would love to hear about your
trials, achievements, and general daily life. I have been collecting a particularly
wonderful collection of postcards that I cherish very much. If anyone would
like to send postcards, please let me know and I’ll send my address. The
reverse applies as well. If anyone wants postcards from Israel, tell me!
All the best, from your friendly traveler.
